The All Progressives Congress (APC) was on Sunday declared winner of the Saturday’s election conducted in all 23 Local
Government Areas of the state.
Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission
(BSIEC), Dr. John Tsuwa, announced the results in Makurdi.
Tsuwa also declared the APC unopposed winner of 182
counciliorship seat out of 276 council wards across the state, leaving 94 seats
for other political parties.
At least eight political parties participated in the
exercise held across 3, 691 polling units in the state.
The BSIEC chairman described the exercise as most peaceful
and credible polls ever conducted in the history of the state.

He speaks to
journalist “I am very impressed with the planning of the exercise and the
massive turnout; I am happy that people are excited to vote.
”I am optimistic that the APC will sweep the polls,” He told
newsmen that he insisted on holding the election “to install democracy and
instill discipline, accountability and sanity in local government
administration.
