The
police in Rivers State yesterday say in the last six weeks it arrested 70
persons including a woman and youths over alleged involvement in various
criminal activities across the state even as it successfully rescued 11 kidnap
victims, among which was a 7-year-old Fortune Etuke who was kidnapped in his
residence at Uzoba area of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area (LGA), of the state
last month.
The
State Commissioner of Police (CP), Zaki Ahmed, disclosed these when he paraded
the 70 suspects in Port Harcourt, weekend.
They
also paraded a 24 year-old Micheal Asu, a native of Ohazara in Ebonyi State,
described as a serial offender who specializes in printing fake currencies,
especially (N1000, N500 notes). Also found on him was a piece of fake $100
note.
He
allegedly owns a printing machine with which he reels out the counterfeit notes
in his Port Harcourt residence.
The
security operatives in the period under review equally reportedly held Noble
Ngiagia, Ibinatem Agbani Lawson and Samuel Monime Princewill who are members of
a Sea pirate gangster that holds sway on waterways in the riverine areas of the
state.
The
gang was allegedly responsible for various kidnap, robbery and murder cases
recorded along the water ways, including the killing in June 23, September 3,
and November 18, 2016, four Police officers attached to Marine Police.
